DIRT WURX USA puts the blade to an epic reconstruct of Maryland’s Landing MX

The longtime track, recently purchased by Allen Bryan, receives a complete redesign and construct during DIRT WURX’s summer MX track tour
imgMONROE, N.Y. (July 17, 2014) – When Allen Bryan recently purchased the Landing MX track in Easton, Md., he was pretty much set on tuning the place up himself and re-opening the longtime track to the motocross-hungry eastern seaboard racers.
Bryan, the principle of Bryan & Sons site and utility construction company, is no stranger to moving dirt. In fact, he moves enough around to afford a sizable fleet of heavy equipment – perfectly suited to construct and tune a motocross track.
Planning on running 200-250 riders a weekend through the track, Bryan’s lofty goal was met with some skepticism from the local MX contingent. The track had done pretty well in its heyday, but numerous management changes and some downtime had left it in disrepair. Plain and simple, MX Landing needed a lot of work.
imgSo when Bryan reached out to Aaron Cain, of Monster Energy Supercross fame, there was only one answer: “You need to get DIRT WURX to build it.
“Build it and they will come,” said Cain in Field of Dreams fashion.
DIRT WURX USA’s Kory Christensen was the first on-site at Landing MX to check out what had to be done in order to elevate the track to pristine condition. Meeting initially with Bryan, Christensen would circle back with Winkler and – within a month – four DIRT WURX crew members, including Winkler, showed up to work. And work they did.
“They got here on a Thursday and the track was done by the following Monday,” recalled Bryan. “They used my machines and, I’ll be honest, I’ve never seen operators shape dirt the way the DIRT WURX team handled things. It was unbelievable. I’ve got a good idea for what these machines can do, and DIRT WURX flat out blew me away.
“They’re the best-of-the-best, maximized every move, knew what each and every guy was going – and was about to do. Total harmony. They were easy on the equipment and worked to sundown each day. It was a very impressive thing to witness … like having the Calvary show up!”

Winkler and his crew were certainly pleased with the effort, and shared in the pride of the job with Bryan. And when it was all said and done, Bryan had two huge, intermediate/vet-friendly National-size MX tracks, and a pee-wee track in three days of work.
“We got on the equipment and sunrise and didn’t get off until it was dark,” said Winkler. “It looked like a sand pit with a few jumps in it when we first arrived … and by the time we left it looked like a golf course with no grass on it.”
Up next for DIRT WURX USA is the Las Vegas Monster Energy Cup event in October. In the meantime Winkler and his team will be chipping away at the 2015 track designs throughout the summer with the Feld team, along with building the most kick ass private and public MX tracks you’d ever ride!
